ABOUT

Flora Deborah Martinez is a French photographer born in Evian les Bains. She grew up in Milan, and is currently based in between the UK and Italy. After a BA Hons degree in Communication, she moved to London, where she studied photography at London College of Communication (University of the arts London) and graduated with distinction in 2009.

Flora is a positive, enthusiastic and hardworking creative person. Her images lie between fashion and art photography with a delicate fairytale touch added to this mix.

ARTIST STATEMENT

As a child my dad used to read me a book about a bear going to find a treasure at the end of the rainbow. But actually the treasure was the adventure lived while going after the rainbow. My adventure started when I finally found the right medium to express myself: photography. And still the rainbow is my colorful background, my muse, who is part of my little dreamy girly world.

I searched for long how to express my creativity and myself and I finally found a feeling of peace and real trust in the photographic medium. I believe in the medium as a way of showing what I see, I'm not interested in showing reality, but I'm interested into showing my own reality.

I seek the dream, I seek the happy ever after and the once upon the time.

During my first years of life I was a good games player, I banally didn't wanted to grow up, and I think I found my way to still be a games player, to live and share my own little rainbow world with the rest of the world.

My aim is to merge and divide my career into my personal work and my fashion projects trying to make them follow a single vision. The same vision had by the small girl who used to play with her dollhouse twenty years ago.
